The Mark Larscheid Memorial Golf Tournament celebrated its 25th year of remembrance of a Yellow Jacket Hall of Famer on July 3rd. Hosted at Spearfish Canyon Country Club, the event saw 148 individuals take to the course honoring Mark Larscheid, who held the South Dakota state high school track & field record in the 110-yard hurdles for more than 50 years as he ran to a time of 14.1 seconds in 1969. He then went on to attend Black Hills State College (Class of 1973), where he would go on to be a Hall of Fame athlete in the sports of both football and track & field. While competing for the Yellow Jackets, he was the 1973 South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference champion in the 120-yard high hurdles with a time of 14.6 seconds.
