RAPID CITY, S.D. — Downtown Rapid City’s Summer Nights concert series continues June 11th as 8th Hour takes over the Coca-Cola Stage beginning at 6 p.m.

Known for their energetic performances and crowd engagement, the band says fans in Rapid City and the Black Hills can expect a fun night filled with variety, big sound and music for all ages.

“High energy, fun, big sound, and engaging,” lead singer Kayla Peterson said when describing the band’s style.

8th Hour has built a reputation for delivering performances that keep audiences entertained from start to finish. Leslie said the group takes pride in playing a wide variety of music while making sure every show feels like an experience.

“A great variety of music that accommodates all ages, and an entertaining show for all,” Kayla said.

The band’s history stretches back several years, with lineup changes and growth helping shape the current version of the group. Kayla said consistency can sometimes be difficult in the music world, but the current lineup has helped elevate the band’s performances.

“8th Hour has been around for a long time and over time, keeping consistent in a band can be a challenge,” Kayla said. “We currently have an amazing group of incredible musicians that add a lot to our shows.”

For the band, events like Summer Nights are about more than just the music. Leslie said connecting with the community and seeing people enjoy themselves is one of the biggest reasons they love performing live.

“The people,” Kayla said. “That’s what drives us. Seeing people have a great time and enjoying the music and show.”

When asked which song tends to get the biggest crowd reaction, Kayla pointed to a fan favorite.

“I would say ‘Mr. Brightside’ gets a great reaction,” Kayla said. “The band plays with a lot of heart to give the best performance we can with high energy to get the crowd going.”

She added that the band is excited to showcase its wide-ranging setlist to the Summer Nights audience in downtown Rapid City.

“This band plays some of the biggest variety of music we have ever had the honor of playing, and we can’t wait to share that with you,” Kayla said.

Attendees are also encouraged to stop by and sign up for a chance to win Central States Fair Grandstand passes during the event.

Summer Nights takes place every Thursday in downtown Rapid City throughout the summer, bringing live music, local businesses and the community together each week. Organizers also remind residents and visitors that downtown Rapid City is open every day, offering shopping, dining, nightlife and entertainment throughout the week.
