RAPID CITY, S.D. — Faida has already done more than most cats ever will, and now she is finally getting her turn to just be someone’s pet.
Faida, a domestic shorthair torbi, came from a large stray colony where dozens of cats were struggling to survive. When rescue crews stepped in near Pioneer Drive, they found more than 40 cats and kittens in poor condition, including Faida and her five babies. What happened next is what makes her story stand out.
Not long after arriving in rescue, her kittens began losing weight quickly. They had been exposed to panleukopenia, a serious and often deadly virus. With constant care and support, Faida stayed with them through it all. Even while caring for her own, she helped nurse orphaned kittens that needed extra attention. Against the odds, every kitten survived.
Now that those days are behind her, Faida is ready for something new. She is calm, gentle, and easy to be around, with a personality that leans more toward quiet companionship than constant activity. She enjoys being pet and will come around for attention, but she is not a fan of being picked up. In a calm home without too many places to hide, those caring for her believe she will continue to gain confidence and seek out more affection over time.
Faida does well with other cats and has shown patience with children. After everything she has been through, she is simply looking for a steady home where she can feel safe and finally be cared for.
Faida is spayed, has no known special needs, and is ready for adoption through A Place for Meow Rescue. You can learn more at www.aplaceformeowrescue.org or visit them on Facebook by searching A Place for Meow Rescue.
