RAPID CITY, S.D. — Dublin didn’t always trust people. When he first came into rescue nearly two years ago, he was so scared that no one could get close to him. Touch wasn’t an option. Even being near a person felt like too much. He kept his distance and watched from wherever he felt safest. But someone kept trying anyway.

Day after day, with patience, quiet voices, and more than a few Churu treats, Dublin started to change. It didn’t happen overnight. It took time, consistency, and a lot of understanding. Slowly, he began to realize something he may have never known before. People can be kind.

Now, the same cat who once wouldn’t let anyone near him will roll onto his back and show off his belly. He leans into pets and doesn’t want them to stop. Once he trusts you, he stays close, soaking up every bit of attention like he’s making up for lost time.

Dublin can still be a little cautious at first. New situations and sudden movements can make him pause, and being picked up isn’t his favorite thing. Because of that, he would do best in a home that understands he just needs a little space at the beginning. Once he feels safe, everything changes.

He does well with other cats and has a gentle nature. The people caring for him say he wouldn’t hurt anyone. He just needed time to figure out that the world isn’t as scary as it once felt.

After nearly two years in rescue, Dublin is ready for something he’s never truly had before. A home where he doesn’t have to start over again.
