The family-friendly event welcomes everyone for an historical ag experience
STURGIS, S.D. – The 58th annual Black Hills Steam & Gas Threshing Bee features the rural lifestyle from an earlier, and less, fast-paced, time.
Set for August 21-23, 2026, east of Sturgis, the hundreds of visitors who attend take in tractor pulls and races, a tractor rodeo, threshing displays and games and crafts for all ages.
The three-day event offers something for everyone, says long-time volunteer William Huston.
Each year, the Black Hills Steam & Gas Threshing Bee selects a particular make of equipment to showcase. This year will highlight the John Deere brand.
Whether you’re someone with memories of spending time in the country or a younger generation currently in production agriculture, Grubl says the Threshing Bee offers history and insight….and fun.
Gates open daily at 7:00 AM at the Western Dakota Antique Club Grounds on Alkali Road east of Sturgis. Along with competitive events, there are working agricultural demonstrations, heritage displays, a flea market and food vendors. There are daily games and crafts for all ages, and steam shovel, saw mill and threshing displays, says Huston
Ticket prices are $10 a day, per person. A $25 weekend pass is also available for purchase. There is free admission for kids 12 and under.
Gates open Friday, Aug. 21 for the 58th Annual Black Hills Steam & Gas Threshing Bee, sponsored by the Western Dakota Antique Club. See the complete schedule on line and on Facebook.
