RAPID CITY, S.D. — Bargain hunters and vehicle enthusiasts gathered Saturday morning for Black Hills Federal Credit Union’s 36th Annual Member Auto Sale, where more than 80 pre-owned vehicles, campers, boats, trailers and other recreational vehicles were available for purchase.
The one-day event was held from 8 to 11 a.m. at 2700 N. Plaza Drive in Rapid City and was open to the public. BHFCU officials said the annual sale has become one of the credit union’s favorite community traditions and reminded residents that membership is not required to attend. Whether visitors were looking to purchase a vehicle or simply browse the lot, everyone was welcome to stop by.
Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee was also on-site serving hot and cold beverages, waffles and breakfast items. BHFCU staff said the coffee truck had been busy throughout the morning and was a popular addition to the event, noting they enjoy partnering with local businesses that help create a welcoming atmosphere for attendees.
While cars and trucks made up much of the inventory, shoppers also found campers, SUVs, UTVs, motorcycles, boats and trailers, offering something for nearly every lifestyle and budget. Featured vehicles included a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and a 2014 Toyota 4Runner. Organizers said one of the highlights of the event is the variety of inventory, adding that visitors never know what unique vehicles they might discover.
Classic vehicle enthusiasts also had plenty to admire. Among the oldest vehicles on display were a 1965 and 1967 Ford Mustang, while some of the newest included a 2024 Dodge Ram and a 2025 Chevrolet Blazer. BHFCU staff said the classic vehicles had attracted significant attention, giving the event the feel of a small car show and encouraging visitors to stroll through the lot even if they were not planning to make a purchase.
BHFCU lenders were available throughout the event to answer questions and assist buyers with financing. Staff said having lenders on-site helps simplify the buying process by allowing customers to explore financing options and receive assistance without leaving the sale.
Organizers encouraged anyone interested to stop by before the event concluded at 11 a.m., noting vehicles were selling quickly throughout the morning.
