The Black Hills State University men’s and women’s rodeo team traveled north to the Mystics Stampede this past weekend, where three individual titles from Bailey Verhulst (goat tying), Jayda Reinert (barrel racing), and Kiera Mavity (women’s all-around), paved the way to the fourth consecutive team title for the Yellow Jacket cowgirls to begin the 2026-27 season. The Green & Gold tallied 480 points during the weekend on the women’s side at Dale Pahlke Arena, which saw dominant performances in goat tying where they secured six of the top-10 placings and in barrel racing where they captured seven of the top-10 placings. On the men’s side the team placed sixth with 125 points, which was highlighted by yet another top-5 team roping finish by the Erickson brothers.
