RAPID CITY, S.D. – Community members, local advocates, and families will gather at Founders Park in Rapid City on Sept. 12 for the annual Black Hills AIDS Walk.
The event, which begins at 9:30 a.m., is free to attend, family-friendly, and open to pets. Organizers hold the event each year to support individuals living with and affected by HIV, raise public awareness, promote community education, and work toward reducing HIV stigma across Rapid City and the surrounding region.
A live DJ will provide entertainment throughout the morning, and organizers are offering free Black Hills AIDS Walk t-shirts for the first 50 participants to arrive. Attendees will also have opportunities to win door prizes and visit information booths set up by community partners.
As part of the health outreach initiative, Oyate Health Center will partner with event organizers on-site to provide free rapid HIV and syphilis testing to attendees.
Organizers invite residents from across Rapid City to join the walk, connect with local health resources, and show support for those impacted by HIV in the Black Hills.
