The Black Hills State University track & field team saw their weekend get underway on Thursday night at Francis G. Welch Stadium at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Making her national championship debut, Evie Boyd, was the lone competitor for the Yellow Jackets on day one as she recorded a 17th place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase in a field loaded with RMAC talent. Boyd’s appearance on the track marked the first BHSU women’s athlete at the outdoor national championships since 2022, and just the second-ever participant in the 3,000m steeplechase at the championships in the DII era.
