RAPID CITY, S.D. — Breadroot Natural Foods Co-op will celebrate local farmers, food producers and small businesses during its annual Connect With Your Co-op event Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 100 East Boulevard North in Rapid City.
The event, now in its third year, was created to help shoppers build stronger connections with the people who grow and produce their food. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local vendors, learn about their products and support businesses established in the Black Hills.
The celebration will feature several local producers, including Black Hills Mushrooms, Magpie Farm, Goodies Gluten Free Bakery, Laka Herb Farm and Journey Microgreens. Visitors can meet the people behind the products and learn more about the businesses serving the community.
Food and beverages will also be available throughout the event. Grounded Food Truck will serve burgers made with local ingredients, including locally produced cheese, along with acai bowls. Local coffee roaster Harriet & Oak and tea vendor Sage & Cedar Tea Co. will provide beverages.
Those looking for something sweet can visit Goodies Gluten Free Bakery or purchase organic cotton candy from Sweet Fluff. Inside the store, shoppers can sample products from Dimock Cheese and Dakota Heat.
In addition to food vendors, the event will feature local organizations, including the Dahl Fine Arts Center and Rapid City Public Library. Representatives will be available to share information about their programs and community involvement.
Breadroot will also host its second donation drive during the event, with contributions benefiting WAVI. Donations will be accepted at the Breadroot tent throughout the day.
Connect With Your Co-op is designed to highlight the relationships between local producers, businesses and consumers while encouraging residents to learn more about where their food comes from.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Breadroot Natural Foods Co-op, 100 East Boulevard North in Rapid City.
