Deadwood, SD – Every June, the historic Days of ‘76 Event Complex in Deadwood, South Dakota, transforms into a high-octane battleground of man versus beast. The wooden grandstands shake, the dirt flies, and forty of the world’s top bull riders in the country test their grit against two, thousand-pound bull from 13 time PBR Stock Contractor of the year, Chad Berger Bucking bulls. At the center of this massive, adrenaline-fueled operation is Adam Libby, the driving force behind Libby Productions. Alongside his family, Libby has turned the annual Deadwood PBR (Professional Bull Riders) event into a premier, “can’t-miss” regional spectacle that perfectly anchors the historic town’s summer tourism season. This Years Deadwood PBR Touring Pro division is June 12th and 13th Friday and Saturday nights.
The vision for the event originally sparked from a simple internet search. Growing up in rodeo families in Montana, Adam and his wife, Desiree, were determined to launch a standalone bull riding event. Seeking a venue with unparalleled character, they literally searched online for the most “unique arenas in the U.S.” The historic Days of ‘76 arena popped up, boasting a rich heritage, wooden bucking chutes, and a deep-rooted connection to the Wild West. Taking a massive leap of faith in 2016, Libby Productions brought professional bull riding to the venue for the very first time. A decade later, the town has become a cherished second home for the Libby family, and the city continuously invests in preserving the historic arena to keep the production elite.
What makes Libby Productions uniquely successful is that it is entirely a family affair. Adam and Desiree raise their two young boys, Charlie and Benny, on the same Montana heritage farm where Desiree grew up, Near Eureka Montana, instilling the values of the Western lifestyle from the ground up. While Adam orchestrates the complex logistics, livestock coordination, and heavy arena preparation, Desiree serves as his vital business partner, balancing the extensive marketing, operations, and back-end production. Together, they have grown their production company from a single, ambitious dream into a regional empire that produces dozens of rodeos and PBR events annually across the Northwest.
Beyond the dirt and the roaring crowds, the Libby family remains deeply committed to giving back to the community that supports them. In 2018, following the tragic passing of Adam’s older brother, Mike, the family founded the Cowboy Way Foundation. This non-profit organization honors Mike’s legacy by operating a scholarship-based program dedicated to funding and furthering the education of young, aspiring rodeo athletes. Additionally, the family actively backs the Rodeo Family Relief Fund, providing direct financial assistance to rodeo families experiencing sudden hardships or crises.
When the gate cracks open this June 12th and 13th in Deadwood, spectators will see the ultimate clash of human toughness and raw animal power. But the real triumph lies behind the chutes, where the Libby family’s relentless work ethic keeps the spirit of the American West thriving. Through decades of dedication, Libby Productions has proven that rodeo isn’t just a business or a sport—it is a lifelong family legacy built on giving back, taking chances, and holding on for the wildest ride in the West. The grounds feature the Tito’s Party Pit for an up-close fan experience. Deadwood PBR Touring Pro Division both Friday and Saturday Night June 12 and 13th.
