Rapid City, SD – The Real America Birthday Bash is set to bring a massive, multi-day celebration to downtown Rapid City this summer, and one of the biggest highlights of the entire event will be a Fourth of July performance from country standout Chancey Williams at Main Street Square.
The festival, running July 1 through July 4, marks the 250th birthday of the United States with a full lineup of music, family-friendly activities, and patriotic celebrations stretching from Main Street Square to the Memorial Park Bandshell near The Monument. Organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together while also welcoming visitors from across the region to the Black Hills.
A Fourth of July Headliner
Williams will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on July 4, leading into Rapid City’s annual fireworks show later that evening. The performance is expected to draw one of the largest crowds of the weekend, as downtown fills with visitors celebrating Independence Day.
During a recent interview, Williams expressed excitement about returning to the Black Hills for such a milestone moment.
“Being in Rapid City on the 250th birthday of the United States, this close to Mount Rushmore, is going to be fun,” Williams said. “We’re real excited about that date this summer.”
The Wyoming native, known for blending traditional country with Western themes, has built a strong following across the region and regularly tours through the Black Hills. He noted that the area remains one of his strongest fan bases, making the Fourth of July performance even more meaningful.
Williams also hinted that fans can expect something new when he takes the stage.
“We’ve been kind of changing up our show every year… we’ve got a bunch of new music coming out, so this summer we’ll have a new show along with the hits,” he said.

Chancey Williams’ latest song “Feelin’ Something New,” drops May 8th.
A Multi-Day Downtown Celebration
The Real America Birthday Bash will transform downtown Rapid City into a vibrant festival corridor, featuring live entertainment, food trucks, beer gardens, local vendors, and interactive experiences for all ages.
Highlights throughout the week include:
- A downtown parade on July 2
- A large-scale drone light show launching from Central High School
- A Mount Rushmore fireworks watch party on July 3
- Live music across multiple stages each day
- Family-friendly attractions like Kids Zones and Touch-A-Truck displays
- Country artist Brandon Jones is also scheduled to perform on July 3, helping build momentum into the Independence Day finale.
A Prime Location for America’s 250th
With Mount Rushmore just a short drive away, Rapid City offers a uniquely patriotic backdrop for the nation’s 250th birthday. Organizers expect significant travel into the region, with downtown serving as a central hub for visitors who may not secure access to Mount Rushmore’s limited-capacity events.
Williams acknowledged the potential scale of the crowd, noting the excitement around the celebration and the possibility of thousands gathering in the heart of the city.
“It’s going to be a big crowd… it’s going to be an awesome night,” he said.
Free and Family-Friendly
One of the key draws of the Real America Birthday Bash is accessibility. The event is free to attend, making it an attractive option for families, locals, and tourists alike. While food, drinks, and vendor items will be available for purchase, the main entertainment — including concerts and fireworks — is open to the public.
Organizers emphasize that the event is designed for all ages, combining high-energy performances with daytime activities geared toward children and families.
Looking Ahead to July 4
As anticipation builds for one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in the region, Williams’ performance stands out as a marquee moment for the weekend. With new music, a refreshed live show, and a packed downtown atmosphere, the July 4 concert at Main Street Square is shaping up to be a centerpiece of Rapid City’s America 250 celebration.
For locals and visitors alike, it’s a chance to celebrate Independence Day with live music, community spirit, and a uniquely Black Hills backdrop — all culminating in a night of fireworks and country music in the heart of downtown.
