Anita Deranleau, Rapid City Area Schools, was recognized during the Vucurevich’s Prosperity Coaches meeting Monday as the recipient of the 2026 Lisa Bondy Award for Outstanding Service.

The award was officially presented at the State Conference which Deranleau was unable to attend, leading to the Monday presentation.

The Lisa Bondy Award for Outstanding Service given by the South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium recognizes an individual who has made a significant and sustained impact on addressing homelessness in South Dakota through their dedication, achievements and vision.

Bondy dedicated 16 years to South Dakota Housing as the Housing for the Homeless Consortium Administrator. In this role, she managed federal grant funds from the Continuum of Care and Emergency Solutions Grants programs, led the annual Point in time Count, and collaborated with agencies statewide to connect individuals and families with emergency services and stable housing.

Deranleau, McKinney Vento Coordinator for Rapid City Area Schools, has served two terms on the Housing for the Homeless Consortium’s Policy & Advisory Committee. She has helped make funding decisions and served on the Performance & Ranking Committee and supports the Youth Advisory Board where she authentically engages them in the process and has been a cheerleader and role model for them.

The nomination for Deranleau notes she is a steadfast advocate for students and families experiencing housing insecurity, consistently ensuring that those most in need are seen, heard and supported. Her work goes beyond basic service – she builds trust, restores dignity and creates pathways to stability. She also serves as a mentor for schools and support providers in our region and across the state of South Dakota.

She is an invaluable asset to our community and the State of South Dakota. Her advocacy, compassion and leadership make a lasting difference in the lives of those she serves.
