RAPID CITY, S.D. – Local collectors and trading card enthusiasts gathered outside the Rapid City Sam’s Club early Tuesday morning, forming a massive line ahead of a highly anticipated Pokémon card drop.
The surge of shoppers at the store reflected strong local interest in the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game release. According to storegoers, the first person in line arrived at the Rapid City location at 3 a.m., waiting five hours in the dark before the retail facility opened its doors. The line extended around the corner of the building towards the automotive and curbside pickup area. Staff were not told what cards were available.
