RAPID CITY, S.D. – Former State Representative and Rapid City Alderwoman Becky Drury announced Monday she is “strongly considering” a campaign for the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 34.

Drury, a familiar face in local politics, stated her potential run focuses on “success for South Dakota”.

“That means we must start from the ground up to ensure that families are safe and financially secure, our schools prepare our kids to thrive, and having a strong main street economy our communities can build a future with,” Drury said in a statement released Dec. 15.

Drury described the state as being at a “crossroads” and emphasized the need for work to build future success.

“I am confident I have the passion and drive to get the job done, and I am ready to fight on the campaign trail to prove it,” Drury said.

She teased that a formal announcement may be imminent, adding that “Good news is coming soon”.

Drury previously served in the state legislature and on the Rapid City Common Council. District 34 encompasses a portion of Rapid City, South Dakota.
