A busy week for Black Hills State University men’s and women’s track & field got under way on Wednesday and Thursday as the Yellow Jackets competed at the Mines Midweek & Multi, hosted by Colorado School of Mines at the Stermole Track & Field Complex. The Green & Gold saw a pair of NCAA Provisional marks and four new top-10 marks in school history during the first of three meets this week. On the men’s side, Flynn Johnston, who had already posted one NCAA Provisional time in the 400m hurdles, improved his time and moved into second all-time in school history in the event. On the women’s side the trio of Cassidy Goddard (hammer throw), Avery Marler (long jump), and Alivia Weathers (heptathlon) posted new top-10 program marks in their respective events. Goddard highlighted the women’s action with a pair of career-best marks in the javelin and the hammer throw, which included an NCAA Provisional mark in the hammer throw as she moved into a tie for fifth place all-time in school history.
