RAPID CITY, S.D. – Greg Blanc, a longtime community leader and resident of Rapid City, officially announced his candidacy for re-election to the South Dakota State Senate in District 35.
Blanc, who has served two years representing constituents in Rapid Valley, Box Elder, and Rapid City, said he intends to continue his focus on conservative values, citing faith, family, and fiscal responsibility as pillars of his platform.
“When I was elected by the people of District 35 two years ago, I vowed to legislate as a Christian, conservative, common sense, constitutionalist, and my voting record proves that I kept my word,” Blanc said. He noted that his legislative record reflects support for limited government, lower property taxes, and parental rights.
A local pastor of 24 years and a Rapid City Police Department Chaplain for two decades, Blanc pointed to his deep roots in the Black Hills region. His community involvement includes 10 years on the West River Human Trafficking Task Force and service on the Rapid City School Superintendent’s Advisory Council and the Rapid City Vision 2020 Strategic Goals Task Force.
During his first term in Pierre, Blanc served on the Judiciary, Taxation, and Military and Veteran Affairs committees. His legislative activity included acting as the prime sponsor for two Senate bills in 2025 and four bills in the 2026 session, three of which were sent to the governor’s desk.
Blanc emphasized his support for local institutions, including Ellsworth Air Force Base and the Army National Guard, as part of his committee work.
“I see a bright future for Rapid City, Rapid Valley, and Box Elder; as together, we continue moving forward, grounded in the time-tested conservative values that make South Dakota so special,” Blanc said.
The primary election is scheduled for June 2.
