STURGIS, S.D. – Regional car enthusiasts will gather in downtown Sturgis on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, as the Grounded Car Show brings custom builds, classic automobiles, and community activities to Main Street.

The inaugural event will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., taking over the heart of Sturgis following approval from the City of Sturgis for a temporary street closure. Show organizers aim to foster a stronger automotive community across the Black Hills region, uniting owners of lowered vehicles, classics, trucks, motorcycles, imports, domestics, and custom builds.

“Our goal is simple: great vehicles, great people, and an unforgettable day in downtown Sturgis,” said Ian Zook, owner of Grounded. “We’re building something that we hope becomes a tradition people look forward to every year.”

Vehicle check-in and load-in begin at 9:30 a.m. Advance vehicle registration costs $20, while day-of registration is $30. Registrations are accepted online through the event sign-up form.

Spectators traveling from Rapid City and surrounding areas can expect a variety of entertainment options alongside the vehicle displays. The schedule features community voting, sponsor giveaways, a scavenger hunt, yard games, and a rolling video game trailer. Food and beverage vendors will include Everyday Jake’s, Billy Q’s, a soda bar drink truck, and Fried & Frosted.

Primary event sponsors include HomeSlice Group, Loud American, REH Contracting, and Frontier Stone Company, with additional support from local businesses such as Rolling Video Games, Wizard Wash Detailing, Hotel Sturgis/Coffee Shop, and Oasis Bar & Fireside Lounge.

Trophy presentations for awards, including Best Car, Best Truck, Best Motorcycle, Best Static, Best Bagged, Best Classic, and People’s Choice categories, will take place at approximately 6 p.m. A live DJ will perform from 7 p.m. until the show concludes at 9 p.m.
