As summer settles into the Black Hills, Hart Ranch Camping Resort Club is once again offering a packed schedule of family-friendly entertainment, giving both campers and local residents plenty of reasons to visit throughout the season.
From weekly rodeos to free live entertainment, Hart Ranch has developed a reputation for creating experiences that extend far beyond the traditional camping getaway.
According to Assistant Supervisor Ella Shafer, the resort’s event offerings have grown naturally over time as the facility expanded and new opportunities emerged.
“I think our members and Wild West Wednesday Rodeo seemed to just evolve,” Shafer said. “Then it created an event center, and now it’s like, what are we going to do in the event center?”
One of the resort’s most popular attractions is its Wild West Wednesday Rodeo series. The rodeos return June 24 and will run for eight consecutive Wednesdays through the summer, wrapping up just before the start of the school year.
The rodeos have developed a loyal following over the years, drawing both Hart Ranch members and members of the public looking for an authentic western experience.
“For visitors who may be staying at Hart Ranch for the first time, what can they expect from a Wednesday night rodeo?” Shafer was asked during a recent interview.
“A lot of fun,” she responded. “Visitors, whether you’re coming as a Hart Ranch member or you’re just coming as an outsider, it’s just a great experience.”
While members receive discounted admission, the public is welcome to attend for $15 per person, making it an affordable evening of family entertainment.
The fun doesn’t stop on Wednesdays.
Every Saturday, Hart Ranch hosts free entertainment events at its event center, featuring a diverse lineup designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences. Recent and upcoming offerings include live music performances, comedy shows, dueling pianos, and even a Shrine Circus appearance.
“We’ve got a great lineup,” Shafer said. “We’ve got Stereo Trip, a comedy show with J. Finney coming in from the Denver area, and dueling pianos this month as well.”
The variety is intentional, allowing Hart Ranch to showcase local performers while also bringing in talent from around the region.
“It’s a really nice variety,” Shafer said. “We get to host local entertainment and then bring some good stuff from around the area as well.”
For Shafer, one of the biggest draws of the entertainment lineup is its focus on family-friendly programming.
When asked about her favorite events, she pointed to the comedy shows and the opportunity to enjoy the activities alongside her grandson.
“Because it’s family entertainment,” Shafer said. “All of it is really good, clean family entertainment fun.”
That family-first approach has become a defining feature of Hart Ranch’s summer schedule, offering visitors a chance to enjoy quality entertainment in a relaxed Black Hills setting.
Whether it’s cheering on competitors at a Wednesday night rodeo or enjoying a free concert, comedy show, or special event on a Saturday evening, Hart Ranch continues to provide a unique gathering place for both campers and the surrounding community.
