RAPID CITY, S.D. – The national tour of The Book of Mormon, the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical, is heading to Rapid City for a limited three-performance engagement at The Monument Theatre from Saturday, April 10, to Sunday, April 11, 2027.
Tickets for the public go on sale Friday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. Group tickets are currently available. Venue officials noted that theatergoers can purchase admission online at themonument.live, in person at the Bluepeak Ticket Offices at The Monument, or at Ellsworth Air Force Base Outdoor Recreation.
Created by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone, the hit production features book, music and lyrics by the trio. The original Broadway staging was directed by Parker and two-time Tony winner Casey Nicholaw, with choreography by Nicholaw. The national touring production is directed and choreographed by Jennifer Werner, based on the original Broadway direction and choreography.
The creative team includes three-time Tony-winning set designer Scott Pask, Tony-winning costume designer Ann Roth, five-time Tony-winning lighting designer Brian MacDevitt, two-time Tony-winning sound designer Brian Ronan, and hair designer Josh Marquette. Musical supervisions and vocal arrangements are handled by Stephen Oremus, with orchestrations co-crafted by Tony winner Larry Hochman and Oremus. Casting for the show is led by Carrie Gardner.
Since its Broadway debut on March 24, 2011, the musical has established itself as one of the most successful stage productions in history, breaking the house record at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre more than 50 times. In addition to its nine Tony Awards – including Best Musical – the show earned a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, five Drama Desk Awards, the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award, the Drama League Award and four Outer Critics Circle Awards.
The show’s international reach expanded with a West End debut in February 2013, where it captured four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, while setting a record for the highest single-day sales in West End history. A European and U.K. tour launched in Manchester in June 2019, earning ‘Best Theatre Show’ at the Manchester Evening News City Life Awards.
