Rapid City, SD – After 22 years of inspiring students on and off the stage, Central High School theater director Justin Speck is getting ready for his final performance later this spring.

On  Wednesday the 24th, his acting recital provided something special: a celebration of student talent and a tribute to the legacy he has built. The showcase included an exciting mix of performances. Students presented The Shadow of Peter Pan, selections from Spoon River Anthology, a lively scene from 13, and a powerful excerpt from Death of a Salesman. The Advanced Theater class wrapped up the night with an energetic performance of Clue, showcasing the confidence, creativity, and stage presence Speck has developed in his students throughout his career.

Speck is known for his passion and dedication. He has a unique ability to bring out the best in young performers, shaping the heart of Central High’s performing arts program. Generations of students have stepped into the spotlight under his guidance, many carrying the skills and confidence they gained into their futures.

As the school prepares for his final production, the CHS community is already reflecting on the impact he leaves behind. He is not just a teacher and director but also a mentor and supporter of the arts. Speck’s influence will continue to resonate through every script chosen, every character explored, and every standing ovation that follows. Speck’s last show at Central will be a production of To Kill a Mockingbird, taking the stage on April 23, 24, and 25.
