STURGIS, S.D. – The First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis is celebrating 140 years of faith, fellowship, and service to the Sturgis community.

Thursday morning, the congregation invited community members to join in recognizing this special milestone with a ribbon cutting held by the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce.

The ribbon cutting helped celebrate this special milestone honoring the church’s longstanding history and connection to the Sturgis community.

Established in 1886, First Presbyterian Church has been part of the Sturgis community for 140 years. Through generations of members and changing times, the church has remained a place of gathering, fellowship, and connection.

Over the years, the church has been part of the community’s growth and history, welcoming generations of individuals and families.

Church leaders say this anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the past, recognize the people who have contributed to the church’s legacy, and celebrate its continued place in the Sturgis community.

In a release, the congregation announced “First Presbyterian Church is grateful to all those who have been part of its journey over the past 140 years and looks forward to the years ahead.”
