RAPID CITY, S.D. – Residents in Rapid City, South Dakota, will have an opportunity to engage in the debate surrounding the Liberty Land proposal during a scheduled community forum later this month. The Minneluzahan Senior Center announced it will host the Liberty Land Community Forum on Saturday, Dec. 27.
The event is set to take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the center, located at 315 N. 4th St. Organizers stated the public meeting is designed to provide a balanced environment where attendees can hear from representatives on both sides of the issue.
Nick Reid has been selected to serve as the moderator for the event. The forum will utilize a question-and-answer format, allowing community members to ask specific questions, voice concerns, and listen to the arguments for and against the proposal.
The forum comes as the city prepares for an upcoming special election regarding the Liberty Land issue. Absentee voting begins shortly after the forum on Jan. 1, with early voting opening on Jan. 5. Election Day is scheduled for Jan. 20.
“This is a chance for our community to come together, ask questions, and hear multiple perspectives in one setting,” said Laura Armstrong, executive director at the Minneluzahan Senior Center.
The event is free and open to the public. Organizers are encouraging all registered voters and interested residents in Rapid City to attend to better understand the ballot measure before casting their votes.
For additional information regarding the forum, residents may contact the Minneluzahan Senior Center at (605) 384-1887.
