Celebrating 10 Years

RAPID CITY, SD – A decade after pouring its first pint in the Black Hills, Lost Cabin Beer Company is marking the milestone with a full week of anniversary events, specialty beer releases, live music, food vendors, and community celebrations across both its Rapid City taproom and Hill City beer garden.

The celebration, taking place during American Craft Beer Week in May 2026, serves as both a thank-you to longtime supporters and a showcase of the brewery’s continued creativity and community spirit. Throughout the week, guests can expect daily beer releases, unique collaborations, themed events, and a packed entertainment lineup designed to honor the brewery’s first ten years in the Black Hills craft beer scene.

Known for balancing experimental brewing with a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere, Lost Cabin has grown into one of the region’s most recognizable independent breweries since opening in Rapid City in 2016.

Tom Silbernagel, COO/Master Brewer/Co-Founder of Lost Cabin Beer Company remarked, “With 28 lines, some days figuring out what goes on tap next can be an hour long meeting.”

Over the last decade, the brewery has expanded its footprint with the addition of its Hill City beer garden and a distribution center on the North side of Rapid City while continuing to host community gatherings, live music, local artist collaborations, and seasonal events that have become staples for many Black Hills beer fans.

“Expanding our distribution changed the whole direction of the company.” said Jesse Scheitler CEO/Co-Founder of Lost Cabin Beer Company. “It gave us the chance to hire more good people and finally get our beer out to the rest of the state. There’s something rewarding about seeing a 4-pack of our stuff sitting on a shelf in a town hundreds of miles away and knowing that our team put it there.”

The anniversary week leans heavily into that same community-driven identity.

One of the headline moments of the celebration includes the release of special barrel-aged beers described by the brewery as “dark, barrel-rested beasts,” featuring rich and complex flavor profiles crafted to commemorate the milestone anniversary. Among the standout releases is the Bourbon Barrel Aged Lord Grizzly, a bold Scotch Ale aged in Woodford Reserve Double Oak barrels that delivers notes of plum, fig, molasses, charred oak, and vanilla.

In addition to specialty beer releases, the brewery is also turning parts of the taproom experience into interactive attractions. Guests can take part in live screen printing sessions inside the barrel room, where attendees can bring their own shirts, hoodies, or gear to receive limited-edition anniversary prints for a small fee. Other special features throughout the week include beer-themed cotton candy, rotating food vendors, and collaborative pop-up experiences designed to keep each day of the celebration feeling unique.

The music lineup is expected to be one of the biggest draws of the week. Lost Cabin After Dark will feature performances from Tennessee rock band Year of October alongside regional acts False Surrender and Continuum, bringing a mix of blues rock, hard rock, and live local music energy to the anniversary festivities.

Food vendors scheduled throughout the celebration include favorites like YoYo Hibachi and Green Chili Shack, giving visitors plenty of options to pair with the brewery’s rotating beer lineup.

While the week is packed with entertainment and specialty releases, brewery organizers say the celebration is ultimately centered around community appreciation. The anniversary festivities will conclude with a community toast on the final Sunday at 2 p.m., inviting longtime regulars, first-time visitors, former employees, musicians, artists, and craft beer supporters to raise a glass together in celebration of the brewery’s first decade.

The anniversary also arrives during a strong period for craft beer culture across western South Dakota. Breweries throughout the Black Hills region continue to expand their event offerings and community partnerships, helping transform local taprooms into gathering spaces that extend beyond beer alone. Lost Cabin has played a significant role in that evolution over the last ten years, helping shape the local brewery scene through collaborations, live events, and a strong emphasis on creativity.

For many Rapid City residents, Lost Cabin has become more than simply a brewery. It has served as a venue for concerts, fundraisers, artist showcases, neighborhood meetups, and celebrations large and small — something reflected in the scale and spirit of the anniversary week itself.

Additional event schedules, beer release details, and live music announcements are expected to continue throughout the celebration week via the brewery’s social media channels and taproom updates.

The week-long anniversary celebration is open to the public at both the Rapid City taproom and Hill City beer garden locations.
