RAPID CITY, S.D. — Love INC of the Black Hills will celebrate 25 years of serving individuals and families in the Black Hills with a free community open house Saturday, Sept. 19.

The 25th Anniversary Celebration will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Love INC of the Black Hills, 414 E. Omaha St. in Rapid City. The event is open to the public and will include a free barbecue lunch, games, anniversary activities and a volunteer obstacle course.

For the past 25 years, the faith-based nonprofit has worked with local churches, volunteers and community organizations to connect people in need with resources and support. The organization says its programs are designed not only to provide practical assistance, but also to build relationships and help individuals and families work toward more stable lives.

“Love INC has always been about more than meeting a need,” Executive Director John Ligtenberg said. “It is about walking alongside people, building relationships and helping them discover that they are loved, they belong, they have something to offer and they have choices. We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers, churches, donors and community partners who have made 25 years of ministry possible.”

The celebration begins at 9 a.m. with the opening of RISE & Thrive and special anniversary sales. At 9:30 a.m., Love INC will reveal a 25-year timeline in its Gathering Room. Lunch tickets and a gift will be available from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m., followed by an anniversary program under the tent at 10:45 a.m.

A free barbecue lunch will be served at 11 a.m., with the Love INC Olympics beginning at noon. The Olympics will feature games and a volunteer obstacle course. Organizers said visitors are welcome to stop by for part of the celebration or stay for the entire event.

Volunteer Relations Director Sheryl Hatch said the anniversary is also an opportunity to recognize those who have supported the organization over the years. “We want this celebration to be a thank-you to our community,” Hatch said. “So many people have given their time, resources, skills and encouragement over the years. Their generosity has made it possible for Love INC to continue helping people in practical and meaningful ways.”

The anniversary event is free through the support of sponsors and donors. Love INC said the celebration will give the organization a chance to recognize its history while also looking ahead to its next 25 years of serving the Black Hills.
