RAPID CITY, SD – South Dakota Mines freshman Addison Miranda has etched her name into the program record books following a standout debut season in Rapid City. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native was recently named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, becoming the first Hardrocker to earn the distinction since Jerika Ihnen in 2008.

Miranda transitioned seamlessly to the collegiate level, leading all RMAC freshmen with a scoring average of 9.3 points per game. Her impact was felt most significantly from beyond the arc, where she averaged 2.4 three-pointers per contest. That mark ranked third overall in the conference, while her 34.7 percent accuracy from deep placed her fifth among all RMAC shooters.

The freshman’s perimeter threat served as a catalyst for the team’s offense, helping the Hardrockers record their highest season total for three-pointers in three years.

A defining moment of Miranda’s season occurred on Jan. 29 during a matchup against Chadron State. The guard delivered a career-best performance, scoring 24 points while shooting 8-for-13 from the field to lead the Rapid City squad.

Off the court, Miranda is pursuing a degree in Marine Biology at South Dakota Mines, balancing a rigorous STEM curriculum with her historic contributions to the basketball program.
