FT. PIERRE, S.D. – Sage Newman took the win at the Casey Tibbs Match of Champions Xtreme Broncs in Fort Pierre, S.D.,  Saturday night (June 6, 2026) with a stout 89-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Me Mojo.

This win just adds to Newman’s recent hot streak. Not counting his lion’s share of the $30,000 of added money in Fort Pierre, Newman has won more than $27,000 just since the beginning of May.

“Things have just been rolling,” Newman said. “Nothing has really changed. I’m just having fun and drawing good, and I couldn’t ask for much more.”

Newman has drawn Me Mojo in the past, so he had a good idea of his match-up going into the short round. The Korkow Rodeo horse had a fantastic trip, and Newman took full advantage of the opportunity.

“I was excited to have him, and he dang sure made me work for it,” he said. “It was a great pen of buckers here in Fort Pierre.”

As opposed to a typical PRCA rodeo, the Xtreme Broncs matches feature only saddle bronc riders, which makes the atmosphere a lot different for the contestants. For Newman and several of the other contestants, it’s a rare chance where they are all competing together at the same time.

“At some rodeos, you get to be around a few of your buddies, but most of the time, you’re up on different days,” he said. “Here at the bronc matches, all the bronc riders are here, and we’re all having fun. There’s great bucking horses and all of your buddies, so you can’t ask for much more.”

After a lukewarm start at the winter rodeos, Newman’s season is now taking off in a big way. He has qualified five times for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (2021-2025) and is on a great pace to make another trip to Vegas, as he is currently No. 6 in the PRCA | Bill Fick Ford World Standings.

“The winter was kind of slow. I won some money here and there, but I didn’t really hit it off crazy,” Newman said. “But, I’ve been drawing good these last few weeks, and we’re rolling into the summer run. I’m excited to keep things going, and it’s going to be fun.”

Though he has made several trips to the NFR, Newman has yet to take home a gold buckle. His goal for this season is to stay in a good position in the world standings to give himself a chance at the world title.

“I want to be up there in the top five and give myself a shot. That’s been the ultimate goal, and it’s been on my mind for a long time,” Newman said. “And honestly, I just want to keep things simple and keep having fun.”
