DENVER, Colo. – A 10-game win streak overall and a 7-game regular season RMAC win streak dating back to last season, came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the No. 11 Black Hills State University men’s basketball team fell on the road at MSU Denver by a score of 77-73.
The Yellow Jackets, who were held to below 50.0 percent shooting for just the third time this season and the first time in RMAC play, took a four point lead into the halftime break but were unable to fend off the hot 3-point shooting of the Roadrunners in the second half.
MSUD went 6-of-8 from beyond the arc in the second half, helping them go on a 26-6 scoring run to build a 13 point lead.
The back-and-forth affair that saw 16 total lead changes would not end without a fight by the Yellow Jackets, who went on a 16-2 scoring run of their own to take the lead with 3:27 remaining.
The late scoring run for BHSU, however, would not be enough to fend off the upset hungry Roadrunners, who ended the game on a 9-3 run to earn the four point win.
Meanwhile,
The Yellow Jacket women’s basketball team pulled off a second half comeback to pull away from the Roadrunners and extend their win streak to seven games with help from Brinlee McRae, who put up a career-high 27 points in the win.
BHSU had the best three-point shooting night of the season making a season-high ten threes, and a season-high 55.6 three-point percentage.
They were down by as much as nine in the second half and were down seven in the third quarter before getting the lead back and running away with it in the fourth quarter.
The Jackets won by the score of 81-68.
