RAPID CITY, S.D. – Longtime Rapid City Post 22 general manager Wayne Sullivan has announced he will retire following the conclusion of the 2026 season, stepping down to spend more time with his family and granddaughter.
Sullivan announced his retirement in a statement addressing the local baseball community.
“Post 22 Nation, I would like to start off by saying thank you to everyone in the Post 22 organization, the community, the amazing fans and all those I had the honor to work with over the last nine years,” Sullivan said. “I was fortunate to play and coach for the legendary Dave Ploof. I have enjoyed working with Coach Kelvin Torve for 8 years, numerous amazing assistant coaches, and Coach Downs this year. Thank you to Dennis Petry who took a chance with me and to Dr. Dietrich and Darin Good for the last 4 years of heading up the Baseball Parents board.”
During his nine-year tenure leading the Rapid City program, Sullivan oversaw team successes, facility upgrades, and financial growth.
“I am very excited about what we as a program have accomplished over the past nine years: winning and hosting numerous State tournaments, the Central Plains National Regional tournament and our amazing facility upgrades,” Sullivan said. “We are leaving the program financially stable. I know that Post 22 will continue its ‘Tradition of Excellence’. Post 22 will always have a special place in my heart.”
Representatives from Post 22 coaches, players, parents, and Baseball Parents Inc. expressed their gratitude for Sullivan’s dedication to the Rapid City program, wishing him the best as he transitions to spending more time with his growing family.
