RAPID CITY, S.D. – The fourth annual Ówaŋg Waštéya Waȟwayela Mani Fashion Show will return to Rapid City on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, taking place inside Rushmore Hall at The Monument during Black Hills Powwow weekend.
Founded in 2023 by Katrina Drust and Duwana Two Bulls, Ówaŋg Waštéya Waȟwayela Mani translates to “To Walk in Grace and Elegance.” The show was created to give Native designers, models, and performers a larger platform while ensuring Native representation across all levels of the fashion industry. The event is produced by KDR Productions LLC, which is owned by Drust, Two Bulls, and Richard Shangreaux.
This year’s theme is “Wild for Style,” inspired by animal prints, patterns, and textures while leaving room for each designer’s individual interpretation.
Organizers are expanding the event for 2026 with a free Day Show starting at 1 p.m. in Rushmore Hall to accommodate more Native designers and models. The Evening Show will follow at 8 p.m., with general admission priced at $10, tickets for elders and youth at $5, and VIP seating at $50.
“When we started the Fashion Show, we wanted Native Designers and Models to have the opportunity to present their work on a larger stage and for our Community to see the level of talent that is here,” said co-founders and producers Katrina Drust and Duwana Two Bulls. “It was also important to us that Native people were involved in more than what you see on stage. From our Designers and Models to our Performers, hosts, and the people working behind the scenes, we want Native people involved throughout the show.”
Ten designers will showcase their work during the Evening Show: K. Lookinghorse (Kayla Lookinghorse), C. Lysias Designs (Stephanie Gamble), Darcy Big Horse, Rebekah Jarvey, Sage Mountainflower, Native Diva Creations (Melrene Saloy-EagleSpeaker), Chelsea’s Cree-ations (Chelsea Nokusis), Breezy Designs (Marian Mike), Jacq’s Creations (Jacqualine Kobliski), and Another Coyote (Naomi Narcisse).
Native actors Michael Spears and Eddie Spears will host the evening program. Kyliana Catches Enemy will open with a prayer song, DJ Element will provide music throughout the event, and Native hip-hop artist Nataanii Means will close the show with a live performance.
Support for the event is provided by the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board, RJ Shangreaux, Native Women Lead, Crazy Horse Memorial, Lil Gail’s, Backstage Bar & Billiards, Black Hills Powwow Association, Main Street Salon & Spa, Rez Rocks, Chokecherry Beverages, Black Hills Indian Artist Market, and Prairie Edge Trading Co. & Galleries.
