RAPID CITY, S.D. — From Ian Munsick opening a new Western restaurant and headlining the Deadwood Jam to pumpkins, comedy, art and live music, the Black Hills has a packed weekend ahead.

Friday

The weekend begins at 11 a.m. in Deadwood with the grand opening of Ian Munsick’s Cowboy Bar & Western Grill inside the historic Landmark Hotel & Casino. The opening-day celebration runs until 8 p.m. and features performances from Munsick’s friends and family.

The new 2,600-square-foot venue celebrates country and Western music with old-school cowboy bar décor, food and drinks, plus indoor and outdoor performance stages.

Back in Rapid City, Free Pinball Friday at Hay Camp Brewing Company begins at 4 p.m.

At 5 p.m., the Dahl Arts Center hosts the Northern Plains Watercolor Society Awards, while Black Hills Vinyl hosts a listening party for Beck’s new album, Ride Lonesome.

At 7 p.m., Scared Scriptless returns to 707 Sports Bar & Nightlife with its family-friendly, PG-13 improv comedy show.

Friday also marks opening night of the 36th Annual Deadwood Jam at Outlaw Square, where Wyoming country star Ian Munsick headlines alongside Ashland Craft. This year’s two-day outdoor music festival is free to attend.

At 7:30 p.m., AJ Finney brings his storytelling-driven stand-up to West River Comedy Club.

Saturday

Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with the Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival in Rapid City. The free celebration stretches from Main Street Square to Memorial Park with vendors, food trucks, pumpkin painting, live music, a giant pumpkin weigh-off and South Dakota Mines’ Pumpkin Chunkin’.

The Deadwood Jam also continues Saturday with another day of free live music at Outlaw Square.

At 7:30 p.m., AJ Finney returns to West River Comedy Club.

At 9 p.m., the Wilt Brothers perform at Murphy’s Pub & Grill before The Cellar brings a late-night EDM party to West River Comedy Club at 10 p.m.

Sunday

Sunday brings another day of celebration at Ian Munsick’s Cowboy Bar & Western Grill, with Munsick’s band, Rocky Mountain Fever, scheduled to perform as part of the restaurant’s grand-opening weekend.

At 2 p.m., the Wilt Brothers Band heads to Kickstands in Sturgis for Classic Country Sunday Funday, with free live music continuing until 6 p.m.

From one of country music’s biggest Western voices putting down roots in Deadwood to fall festivals, comedy and local music, there’s plenty happening across the Black Hills this weekend.
