RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota America Pageants has crowned Rapid City resident Jonasia Nance as Miss South Dakota for America 2026, naming her the state’s representative for the national Miss for America pageant this August.

Nance, an active-duty member of the United States Air Force and community advocate, originally competed as Miss Pennington County for America Strong 2026. Her platform centers on improving access to food and essential resources for underserved individuals and families in Rapid City and surrounding communities.

“Jonasia represents the heart of service leadership,” said Charlene Jones, Director and Chief Visionary Officer of Miss South Dakota for America Strong 2026. “Her compassion for others, dedication to community engagement, and commitment to uplifting people through both her military service and volunteer work make her an incredible representative for South Dakota.”

Since 2022, Nance has volunteered with Feeding South Dakota, supporting food packaging and distribution efforts in Rapid City and Box Elder. She has also partnered with Fork Real Community Cafe during community outreach events and has remained active with Black Hills Community Theatre both on and off stage since 2021.

Nance is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration through Western Governors University and holds a CompTIA Security Plus Certification.

As Miss South Dakota for America 2026, Nance will prepare for the national competition while continuing advocacy work across South Dakota.
