Stevens alum named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year

RAPID CITY, S.D. — As the Rapid City Stevens girls’ basketball team prepares for their 13th consecutive state tournament appearance, Jayda McNabb (22’), finished an amazing Junior season at Air Force. Although her team fell short in their first ever Mountain West Championship, falling to Colorado State, Jayde left her mark.

Jayda led the league in offensive rebounding as well as steals per game, ranking her 10th in the nation in offensive rebounds and 7th in overall rebounding in the conference. McNabb led Air Force in steals and was named to the Mountain West All-Defensive team this season.

This week Jayda was also named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, becoming only the second ever player in school history to receive the honor.

Jayda was an integral part of the Stevens Raiders team that played in the SDHSAA championship game in 2022, falling to Sioux Falls O’Gorman. Jayda was also part of the 2018 State Champion Volleyball team as well as a state champion as part of the sprint medley team for the Raiders in 2021.
