Rapid City Rush
(RAPID CITY, S.D.)—The Rapid City Rush (3-0-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, look to continue their historic start against the Kansas City Mavericks (0-3-0) on USA 250 Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. MDT on Saturday on Slumberland Furniture Ice at The Monument Ice Arena. WATCH | LISTEN LAST TIME OUT The Rapid City Rush posted a 4-1 home opening victory over the Kansas City Mavericks on Slumberland Furniture Ice at The Monument Ice Arena last night. A tightly-contested first period saw both teams find the back of the net. Marko Sikic kicked off the scoring with a shorthanded goal six minutes into the game. Kansas City responded on their next power play late in the first, but the Rush took over the remainder of the scoring. Logan Nelson capitalized on a two-on-one break early in the second period for the eventual game-winning goal. Alex Campbell added insurance in the third period for Rapid City, pushing the lead to 3-1, as he deposited a cross-ice pass from Sikic just after a power play had expired. Tyler Inamoto capped off the night with an empty netter. HISTORIC START Last night’s win moved the Rush to 3-0, a feat they have not achieved in their ECHL era. The last time Rapid City won their first three games was 2013, their final season in the Central Hockey League, when the Rush started 10-0 and did not lose a road game until January 3. OWEN. SAY. Owen Say shined in his home debut. The 24-year-old made 29 saves on 30 shots and allowed nothing at even strength. Say’s best moment came with the Mavericks having pulled their goaltender. After a puck bounced behind him, Say reached back to knock it aside with the butt end of his stick and changed the puck’s trajectory just enough to keep it from crossing the line. The London, Ontario native has been responsible for all three wins so far this season, which ties him with Florida’s Cam Johnson for the most in the ECHL. THAT WAS SIK-IC Marko Sikic’s impressive start to the season continued with another multi-point night, his second in three games thus far. Sikic kicked off the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the first, then had the primary assist on Campbell’s insurance goal. The third-year pro now owns four points in three games. ANOTHER ONE FOR THE BASH BROTHERS Tyler Inamoto and Tyson Feist had their fingerprints all over last night’s game. Feist picked up a primary assist in the first period, while Inamoto buried the empty net goal. The duo still leads the league in plus-minus, with Feist (+8) and Inamoto (+7) untied for first and second place. MORE SHOT SUPPRESSION After a somewhat untidy first period, Rapid City’s defense locked down the final 40 minutes of play and kept the pressure on throughout. The Rush outshot the Mavericks, 24-15, over the last two periods and allowed 30 shots in the game as a whole. Early returns on the defense appear to be strong—Rapid City has allowed just 27.3 shots on goal per game compared to 39.2 last season. CELEBRATING THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE Tonight is the Rush’s first specialty jersey night of the season. The team will be wearing USA 250 jerseys, presented by Horsley Specialties. The game-worn sweaters will be auctioned off live immediately following the action. 2026-27 Rapid City Rush season tickets, mini plans, and group experiences are on sale now!
