The Black Hills State University men’s and women’s rodeo teams hosted the annual Will Lantis Yellow Jacket Stampede this past weekend at Seven Down Arenas, looking to position themselves to punch tickets to the CNFR this upcoming weekend following the final rodeo of the regular season. The Yellow Jacket cowgirls finished second as a team with 258.33 points and were led by a 1-2 finish in barrel racing by Jayda Reinert and Sierra Steele. For Reinert, who has been top-5 nationally in the event, it was her sixth title of the year in barrel racing, while Steele moved into second place in the region. On the men’s side, Luke Mavity continued his push for a return trip to the CNFR as he notched his third consecutive top-5 finish of the spring in tie down roping, leading the BHSU cowboys to a seventh place team finish with 125 points.
