RAPID CITY, S.D. (PRNewswire) — A South Dakota high school senior is being recognized on a national level for his commitment to serving children on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Cody Two Bulls, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, has been named a 2026 Youth Service honoree by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society for his work through an initiative he founded called Backpacks & Baseball.

Through the program, Two Bulls has distributed thousands of backpacks, meals, holiday gifts and essential supplies to children and families across the reservation. His efforts also include organizing community events designed to create safe, positive and joyful experiences for youth.

According to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Two Bulls’ work reflects the core values associated with the nation’s highest military honor, including courage, sacrifice and selfless service.

Despite still being in high school, Two Bulls’ impact has reached far beyond the classroom. His work is ongoing and self-initiated, continuing throughout the year as he responds to the needs of his community.

Organizers say his leadership stands out not only for the scale of what he has accomplished, but for the heart behind it.

By focusing on children and families on Pine Ridge, Two Bulls is helping meet immediate needs while also creating moments of connection, stability and hope.

The recognition places him among a select group of individuals across the country who are honored for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

For many children on Pine Ridge, those backpacks, meals and moments of joy mean more than supplies. They are a reminder that someone sees them, believes in them and is working to build something better for their future.
