RAPID CITY, S.D.– The Post 320 Stars 18U picked up a big 14-7 win on June 17 at Pete Lien Memorial Field after turning a slow start into an exciting night of baseball.

The Stars found themselves trailing early in the game. At the end of the first inning, Pierre led 4-2. Pierre held onto that lead through the second inning, with the score at 6-2. While the energy was a little low at the beginning of the game, it did not stay that way for long.

The biggest moment of the night came when Max Speed (#22) stepped up to the plate and hit the first home run of the game. As soon as the ball left the bat, the dugout erupted and the crowd came to life. Teammates cheered as Speed rounded the bases, and the home run gave Post 320 the spark they needed.

After Speed’s home run, the momentum began to shift in favor of the Stars. The boys started putting together quality at-bats and finding ways to get runners on base. Hit after hit, Post 320 chipped away at the deficit and eventually took control of the game.

Baseball is a game of momentum, and Post 320 took full advantage of it. The offense stayed aggressive at the plate while the defense worked hard behind the pitchers. Whether it was making routine plays in the field or coming through with a key hit, everyone seemed to contribute throughout the night.

As the innings went on, the energy around Pete Lien Memorial Field continued to grow. What started as a quiet crowd quickly turned into a loud one. Families, friends, and supporters filled the stands with cheers and encouragement. Every run scored seemed to bring even more excitement to the ballpark.

By the fourth inning, the Stars had completely turned the game around and taken a 10-6 lead over Pierre. The offense continued to find success by putting the ball in play and taking advantage of scoring opportunities. Their ability to keep runners moving around the bases helped them stay in control.

The pitching staff also played an important role in the victory. By throwing strikes and trusting the defense behind them, the Stars were able to limit Pierre’s opportunities. Strong defensive plays helped stop rallies and keep momentum on Post 320’s side.

The Stars continued adding to their lead as the game moved into the later innings. By the sixth inning, Post 320 had stretched its advantage to 12-6. The team remained focused and continued to play aggressively both at the plate and in the field.

Pierre managed to score one more run in the seventh inning, making the score 12-7, but Post 320 responded by adding two more runs of its own. When the final out was recorded, the Stars had secured a 14-7 victory.

While it was a complete team effort, Max Speed’s home run will likely be remembered as the moment that changed the energy of the game. From that point on, the Stars fed off the excitement from their teammates and families and never looked back.

The 14-7 comeback win showcased the determination, teamwork, and offensive firepower of the Post 320 Stars 18U as they defended their home field against Pierre in Rapid City.
