RAPID CITY – Rapid City Catholic School System officials announced Wednesday that Nick Wald has been appointed as the new head football coach for St. Thomas More High School.
Wald, a 1998 graduate of St. Thomas More, returns to lead the Cavaliers after years of involvement with the program. Following his own playing career at the school, he served as a longtime assistant coach and has extensive experience coaching various youth sports throughout the Rapid City community.
School administrators noted that Wald’s transition to the head coaching role is bolstered by his deep roots within the institution. He is currently a parent of three students at the school, a connection officials say aligns him with the mission and traditions of the Catholic education system.
“I am excited to see athletes grow in faith and character, while learning teamwork and how to compete through hard work, discipline and sportsmanship,” Wald said of his new position.
