RAPID CITY, SD — Independent country artist Logan Mize is bringing a one-of-a-kind tour to the Black Hills this month, rolling into downtown Rapid City for an intimate acoustic performance at Aby’s on April 10.

The Kansas native is currently on what he calls a “one last ride” tour, traveling across the country in a refurbished 1980s station wagon; the same vehicle he used during his early touring days.

“I had this old station wagon from the ’80s… I used to tour in it,” Mize said during a recent interview with Brandon Jones who is opening up for Logan at Aby’s. “It’s the 10-year anniversary of the very first official tour I did in it, so I figured it was a good year to blow it out.”

Mize, who has spent more than two decades in music, has built a loyal following as an independent artist, navigating the highs and lows of the industry without major label backing. He described his career as a “roller coaster” with “peaks and valleys,” emphasizing adaptability and passion for live performance as key to longevity.

The upcoming Rapid City show will feature a stripped-down, acoustic format, allowing fans to experience Mize’s music in its rawest form. With a catalog of more than 100 songs, each performance is tailored to the crowd.

“Some people want story time… some people just want me to shut up and sing,” Mize said. “I kind of try to read the room and let the crowd lead where we go.”

Mize’s songwriting process is equally organic. Rather than relying on structured writing sessions, he finds inspiration through everyday activity.

“I’ve got to be doing something,” he said. “Usually a melody will pop into my head when I’m not thinking about it, that’s when the good stuff happens.”

Logan also shared that new music is on the way, with a forthcoming album expected to release soon as he transitions fully into operating under his own independent label.

The April 10 show at Aby’s will also feature local favorite Brandon Jones, adding a strong Black Hills presence to the night.  The show is produced by MetroLive Concerts and Stitch Productions LLC.

With a mix of storytelling, crowd interaction and acoustic energy, the performance promises to offer a unique live music experience in Rapid City’s growing downtown scene.

Tickets are available through artist website, tickpick.com and at Aby’s day of the show.
