STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council approved the annual renewals of the 47 retail on/off sale malt beverage and South Dakota wine licenses.

Robin Korth, Deputy Finance Officer, says renewals are contingent on property taxes being current.

She says the City of Sturgis and the State of South Dakota split the $300 license fee, giving the city a total revenue of $7,500.

One license renewal was discussed – the renewal for Freedom LLC at 901 Main Street, who does not yet have a required permanent structure and City Attorney Eric Davis discussed that.

Sturgis City Administrator Aaron Jordan says they have been in talks with the license holder and they are working forward in getting a permitted building up before this year’s rally.

If that doesn’t happen, Sturgis Public Works Director Rich Bush says they could do a partial occupancy.

The council approved all 47 license renewals after discussion.
