RAPID CITY, S.D. — A long-standing crosstown rivalry will take center stage Tuesday night as Rapid City Central hosts Rapid City Stevens in a matchup with significant postseason implications.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at McKeague Field, where the Cobblers will look to reverse recent history against the Raiders. Stevens claimed the first meeting of the season in dominant fashion, shutting out Central 13-0.

Central enters the game seeking its first win over Stevens in several years, adding extra urgency to an already heated rivalry. With playoff positioning on the line, both teams have plenty at stake as the regular season winds down.

Tuesday’s contest will also serve as Senior Night for the Cobblers, as the program honors its two seniors from the Class of 2026, Laken Uttecht and Tucker Jones. The pair will be recognized for their contributions to the program prior to first pitch.

The matchup represents more than just standings, as pride and tradition run deep between the two programs. The Cobblers and Raiders have long defined high school baseball in Rapid City, with each side backed by a passionate fan base.

Supporters are expected to pack the stands Tuesday night, with fans encouraged to wear red for Central and blue for Stevens in a show of school spirit.

As the saying goes around Rapid City, once a Cobbler, always a Cobbler — and once a Raider, always a Raider.

With momentum, bragging rights and postseason hopes all in play, Tuesday night’s contest promises to deliver another chapter in one of the area’s most competitive rivalries.
