RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City has a packed schedule of concerts, comedy and community events this weekend. The Black Hills Powwow returns for three days at The Monument. Meanwhile, Stitch-Fest will use local music to support Friday Meals. Robert Plant will also bring his latest tour to Rapid City on Sunday.
Friday
The 38th Annual He Sapa Wacipi Na Oskate, or Black Hills Powwow, begins Friday at The Monument. Doors open at 4 p.m., followed by Grand Entry at 6 p.m.
The three-day gathering celebrates Indigenous culture and tradition. Championship dancers and singers will travel to Rapid City from across North America. In addition, visitors can explore Native art and vendors throughout the weekend.
Also at 6 p.m., Opal In Sky brings the Coming to America Tour to 707 Nightlife. Twin brothers Dylon and Tyson lead the modern metal group. Levels, Mirrorcell and From This Day Forward will also perform.
Then, at 7:30 p.m., comedian Brad Wenzel takes the stage at West River Comedy Club. Wenzel is known for his offbeat delivery and has appeared on Conan.
Saturday
The Black Hills Powwow continues Saturday at The Monument. Doors open at 10 a.m., followed by the first Grand Entry at noon.
Throughout the day, visitors can experience championship dancing and singing. Native art, vendors and colorful regalia will also be part of the celebration.
At 5:30 p.m., 707 Nightlife begins the second night of its back-to-back heavy music weekend. Primer 55 brings the Shattered Schemes & Broken Dreams Tour to Rapid City. A Block, Kissing Candice and Wicked Six will also perform.
Next, the 2nd Annual Stitch-Fest: Feed the Need begins at 6 p.m. The event takes place at 445 Lounge & Grill, 445 Mt. Rushmore Road in downtown Rapid City.
Stitch-Fest began as a birthday celebration centered around friends and live local music. However, the event has grown into an opportunity to give back.
This year, Stitch-Fest features a $10 chili feed benefiting Tom Whillock and Friday Meals. The volunteer effort provides hot meals to people experiencing homelessness and others in need.
Music begins at 6:30 p.m. with Flannel Unplugged featuring Josh and Pat. Paradise White follows at 7:30 p.m. Goodfire takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. Finally, The Outside Kids close the live lineup at 10 p.m.
DJ Wr4th will also provide music between sets throughout the night.
Additionally, organizers are accepting donations from people who want to support Friday Meals without purchasing chili. Ultimately, the goal is to turn a night of local music into more meals for the Rapid City community.
Sunday
The Black Hills Powwow returns for its final day Sunday. Doors open at 11 a.m., followed by Grand Entry at 12:45 p.m.
The final day offers another opportunity to experience championship dancing and singing. Visitors can also explore the traditions, art and community surrounding the annual gathering.

The former Led Zeppelin frontman brings his latest musical chapter to the Black Hills. In addition, Rosie Flores joins the tour as a special guest.
Overall, the weekend offers everything from Indigenous culture and community fundraising to metal, comedy and legendary rock music.
