RAPID CITY, S.D. — Food lovers, live music fans, and weekend adventurers will have plenty to choose from around the Black Hills this weekend as Rapid City hosts everything from one of the area’s biggest food truck gatherings to candlelit concerts and community fundraisers.
Leading the weekend lineup is the 2026 Black Hills Food Truck Festival taking place Friday, May 29 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continuing Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at Black Hills Harley-Davidson. The free event brings together 37 food trucks from across the region for two days packed with local flavors, desserts, drinks, and comfort food favorites.
Festival-goers can expect everything from BBQ and tacos to frybread, shaved ice, rolled ice cream, burgers, coffee, lemonade, and specialty treats. Participating vendors include YoYo Hibachi, Green Chili Shack, Black Hills Brats, Everyday Jakes, Scotty D’s BBQ, Oak Burn BBQ, Ruth’s Kitchen Punjabi Food, Chill Your Roll, and many more. Organizers are calling it one of the largest food-centered events of the year in the Black Hills region.
Friday evening also features a charitable community event at the Fairgrounds with the 2nd Annual Cornhole For A Cause Tournament beginning at 5 p.m. The event benefits the Newton family and their daughter, Elsie Mae, who recently spent her first month of life in the NICU. Organizers say proceeds from tournament entries, raffles, and donations will help ease the family’s financial burden as Elsie Mae continues her medical journey.
The tournament will feature both casual and competitive brackets, along with food, drinks, raffles, and a chance to win a Blackstone griddle. Players will compete in a blind draw format using the SCOREHOLIO app for tournament management and court updates.
Live music fans can head to 707 Nightlife Friday night for Noise Pollution – The AC/DC Experience with special guest Common Law at 7 p.m. The touring tribute act recreates the iconic sound and stage presence of AC/DC with a full concert-style production designed for hard rock fans looking for a high-energy night downtown.
Meanwhile, electronic music fans can catch Libr8 live at Aby’s Rapid City beginning at 9 p.m. The free 21-and-over event promises more than four hours of EDM spanning house, dubstep, trap, drum and bass, and additional surprise performances throughout the night.
Saturday continues with more food truck action before shifting into arts and entertainment throughout the evening.
Canvas 2 Paint will host its “Tree of Lights” guided painting class at noon, offering a two-hour instructor-led experience with all supplies included for participants looking for a creative afternoon activity.
Classical music takes center stage Saturday evening at the Dahl Arts Center as touring pianist Mila Belakova performs at 7 p.m. Belakova is known for blending storytelling, composer history, and audience interaction into performances designed to make classical music approachable and engaging for audiences of all ages.
The weekend wraps up Saturday night with Candlelight: A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac at the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City at 8:45 p.m. The candlelit performance will feature the Listeso String Quartet performing Fleetwood Mac favorites including “Landslide,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” “The Chain,” and “Gold Dust Woman” inside the Studio Theater. Organizers describe the event as an immersive live music experience combining classical instrumentation with the atmosphere of hundreds of candles surrounding the venue.
From food trucks and fundraisers to rock concerts and classical performances, the final weekend of May offers something for nearly every kind of entertainment fan across Rapid City and the Black Hills.
