RAPID CITY, S.D. — Summer may be winding down, but Rapid City’s entertainment calendar isn’t slowing down. From live music and comedy to the final weekend of the Central States Fair, there are plenty of ways to spend Friday and Saturday around town.

Friday

Start Friday morning with the Friday Flower Bar at Flowers by LeRoy beginning at 10 a.m. Shoppers can choose from a rotating selection of flowers sold by the stem and build their own custom bouquets while supplies last.

Friday evening, Scared Scriptless brings its fast-paced improv comedy to 707 Sports Bar & Nightlife at 7 p.m. The PG-13 show combines audience participation, quick thinking and off-the-cuff comedy for an unpredictable night of laughs.

Country music fans can spend Friday at the Central States Fair, where Billy Currington is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. as the annual Rapid City tradition enters its final weekend. Current event calendars list Currington among the fair’s closing-weekend concerts.

For a more laid-back evening downtown, singer-songwriter Ruthie Craft performs at Tinder Box beginning at 8 p.m.

Saturday

Saturday offers one final chance to enjoy the Central States Fair, with carnival rides, fair food, games, vendors and entertainment throughout the day. Country star Gary Allan is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. as part of the fair’s final night.

Downtown Rapid City also celebrates the end of summer Saturday with the Summer Sunset Festival at Main Street Square beginning at 5 p.m. The event brings the community together for live entertainment and another summer evening in the heart of downtown. Current event calendars confirm the festival for Saturday, Aug. 29.

At 5:30 p.m., Rusty Rierson performs live at 707 Sports Bar & Nightlife. The Kansas entertainer brings a mix of country, original music and humor to the stage.

Then finish Saturday night downtown as Rapid City’s own Camp Comfort performs at Murphy’s Pub & Grill at 9 p.m. as part of the Murphy’s Summer Patio Series.

From country stars and comedy to local music and one more big downtown celebration, Rapid City has plenty happening as August comes to a close.
