Rapid City is rolling into the weekend with a packed lineup of live music, comedy, interactive events, and hands-on experiences across town. From acoustic sets and blues collaborations to a 1980s murder mystery dinner and a downtown prom crawl for a cause, there’s something happening at nearly every corner of the Black Hills.

Here’s what to check out around Rapid City this Friday and Saturday.

Friday Events

Start your weekend on a relaxed note with live music from Steven Nichols at Firehouse Pizzeria at 5 p.m. The Gillette, Wyoming native brings high-energy acoustic covers and storytelling charm to this Feel-Good Friday performance. Arrive early to take advantage of Wine Down Happy Hour from 4 to 6 p.m. featuring $5 glasses of house wine.

At 6 p.m., the Dahl Arts Center hosts an EPA Spotlight performance featuring Johnny Hastings and Bob Fahey in the Cultural Café. The two longtime Black Hills musicians reunite for a Blues Brothers–inspired collaboration showcasing songwriting and blues traditions. The performance is free and open to the public, with drinks available for purchase via the Kansas City Street entrance.

Also at 6:30 p.m., step into a totally tubular throwback at the 1980s Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner at Coffee and the Cats. Guests become part of the story as assigned characters in a fictional movie-set whodunit, complete with costumes encouraged and a four-course meal included with admission.

Comedy fans won’t want to miss Michael Winslow and Friends Live at 707 Sports Bar & Nightlife. Known worldwide as the “Human Jukebox” from Police Academy, Spaceballs, and America’s Got Talent, Winslow headlines a night of stand-up alongside host Morgan Preston and regional comedy talent. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with showtime at 7:30.

Meanwhile, West River Comedy Club welcomes nationally touring comic Brett Hiker at 7:30 p.m. Hiker’s credits include appearances on Fox, Peacock, and several major comedy festivals across North America. This performance is 21 and over.

Saturday Events

Saturday afternoon begins with a creative seasonal workshop at Dandelion Bouquet at 1 p.m. The Easter Felting Crafts Class invites participants to create their own felted bunny in a pot under the guidance of award-winning artist Melanie. No experience is necessary, making this a welcoming activity for beginners and experienced crafters alike.

Later in the afternoon, Uplifted Winery hosts a Wine and Cheese Tasting Experience from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Led by Beth McIntyre and Chris Roth, the class explores cheese history, pairing techniques, and storage tips while featuring six curated global cheeses paired with 12 ounces of wine.

Starting at 5 p.m., downtown Rapid City transforms into a retro playground during the Second Annual Classy to Trashy Prom Crawl, themed around 90s Vegas. Participants will travel between multiple stops—including Firehouse Wine Cellars, Pour 54 Taphouse, Paddy O’Neill’s, Brass Rail Lounge, and The Social House—collecting poker cards to build winning hands and raffle entries. The event supports the Ellsworth Firefighters Association and concludes with the Viva Las Heroes After Party and prize drawings beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday night wraps up with a glow-heavy dance floor at Press Start Barcade’s White Out Party at 8 p.m. Featuring DJ Judge Kimosabi, black-light visuals, and themed drink specials, the event encourages guests to wear white for the full effect.
