Rapid City is rolling into the weekend with a packed lineup of live music, interactive entertainment, comedy, and family fun as summer activities continue to ramp up across the Black Hills. From patio concerts and trivia nights to the opening day of Storybook Island, there’s something happening around town for nearly everyone this weekend.

Friday night kicks off with another edition of Singo Bingo at Skybox Sports Bar beginning at 6 p.m. The popular music bingo event has officially shifted into an every-other-Friday summer schedule and continues to combine classic bingo gameplay with themed music rounds. This week’s themes feature 80s Rock and Summer Hits. Guests can enjoy food and drinks while competing for prizes, including drink tickets and spins on the “Wheel of Destiny,” which offers players the chance to win larger prizes — or potentially walk away empty handed. The event is free to play and has quickly become one of downtown Rapid City’s growing summer nightlife staples.

For those looking for a more immersive evening, Coffee and the Cats hosts “The Great Catsby” Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The interactive murder mystery dinner experience transports guests to 1927, where attendees become part of a glamorous dinner party centered around the disappearance of a priceless Persian cat wearing a diamond-studded collar. The event includes a four-course meal, drinks, and complimentary time inside the Kitty Cove. Organizers say reservations are required due to limited seating availability.

Live heavy music takes over Aby’s Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. with performances from Waste, Catsclaw, Reviver, God Cult, and Wicked Six. The all-ages concert promises an energetic night of hard-hitting performances and local heavy music culture. Advance tickets are available for $20.

Comedy fans can head over to West River Comedy Club Friday at 7:30 p.m. for stand-up comedian Sheldon Starr. Originally from Oglala, South Dakota, Starr has built a reputation across the region for his fast-paced delivery, clever wordplay, and offbeat comedic observations. A winner of the 2017 Black Hills Comedy Competition, Starr remains a regular performer within the regional comedy scene.

Later Friday evening, Murphy’s Pub & Grill officially launches its Summer Patio Series with local reggae rock favorites Camp Comfort performing at 9 p.m. The seasonal series highlights live local and regional music throughout the summer months on Murphy’s downtown patio, pairing live entertainment with food, drinks, and summer nightlife in the heart of Rapid City.

Saturday marks the official opening day of Storybook Island for the 2025 season. Gates open at 9 a.m. with free admission available daily through September 7. Families can once again explore more than 60 fairytale-themed play sets, stroller-friendly walking paths, train rides, carousel rides, and shaded play areas throughout the beloved Rapid City attraction. Storybook Island continues to serve as one of the area’s most recognizable family destinations during the summer months.

Saturday evening also brings live music to BIN 605 as Wyoming country rock artist Brandon Anderson performs at 6 p.m. Anderson has earned recognition in both the Wyoming and Black Hills singer-songwriter scenes, including honors in multiple regional songwriting competitions. Seating for the performance is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For trivia fans, Independent Ale House hosts another round of JEOPARDY! Bar League Saturday night at 8 p.m. The official bar trivia experience inspired by the long-running television game show allows teams to compete in live quiz gameplay for prizes, giveaways, and entries toward a grand prize drawing worth $1,000. Participation is free.

Sunday afternoon wraps up the weekend with live music at Woodland Republic Brewing beginning at 2 p.m. Missouri-based duo American Peasants will perform a mix of folk, blues, rock favorites, and original music as part of their nationwide tour stretching from Missouri to Alaska. The group says their performances focus on storytelling, acoustic arrangements, and connecting with audiences across the country.
