Rapid City is heading into a packed weekend with something for just about everyone—from free pinball and Americana folk to a live true-crime podcast recording and a special acoustic country performance. Saturday continues the momentum with art experiences, live bands, trivia competition, and a major community fundraiser, while Sunday wraps things up with a relaxed jazz brunch.
Here’s a look at what’s happening around town.
Friday afternoon kicks off with Free Pinball Fridays at Hay Camp Brewing Company beginning at 4 p.m. The weekly two-hour social session welcomes players of all ages and skill levels. It’s a laid-back way to meet fellow pinball fans, connect with the teams from Hay Camp Brewing Company and Heroes & Villains, and enjoy a beer—or even an in-house soda—while trying your hand at the machines.
At 5 p.m., Quinlan Valdez returns to Firehouse Wine Cellars as part of the venue’s Feel-Good Friday lineup. The Casper, Wyoming musician brings his Americana folk sound back to Rapid City after sharing stages with artists like Jalan Crossland and Chad Lore. Guests can also take advantage of Happy Hour specials from 4 to 6 p.m., featuring $5 glasses of house wine.
Later in the evening, Midwest Murder LIVE takes the stage at Coffee and the Cats at 7 p.m. Hosts Jonah Lantto and Dawn Palumbo will record a live episode of their chart-climbing true crime podcast, guiding audiences through a detailed case timeline and investigation. The event also includes a live audience Q&A, photo opportunities, and a chance to help name the episode. Organizers note the content may include mature themes.
Also at 7 p.m., Logan Mize brings his Glen’s Last Ride Acoustic Tour to Aby’s, joined by Brandon Jones. The all-ages show offers fans an intimate opportunity to hear songs from the Kansas country artist known for blending small-town storytelling with modern country influences.
Saturday begins with a slower pace—but plenty to explore—during Slow Art Day at the Journey Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free event invites visitors to engage with art in new ways through mindful gallery experiences, slow-flow yoga, live artist demonstrations, sound bath sessions, sky storytelling, and music inspired by the night skies. Some sessions require advance RSVP due to limited space.
Saturday evening features one of the weekend’s biggest community events as the 2026 Beach Ball Gala and Auction begins at 6 p.m. at The Monument. Hosted in support of Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI), the evening includes a plated dinner, live and silent auctions, and programming designed to raise awareness and funding for services supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking.
Live music continues at 7 p.m. at Aby’s with performances by The Dirt Road Getaway and Speed City Demons, bringing a mix of country, rock and roll, and high-energy local sound to the stage.
Trivia fans can close out Saturday night at Independent Ale House during Jeopardy Bar League at 8 p.m., where teams compete in a fast-paced quiz format inspired by the classic game show.
Sunday morning offers a relaxed finish to the weekend with Jazz Brunch at Coffee and the Cats starting at 10 a.m. Guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, plus bottomless orange juice and drip coffee. The family-friendly brunch is priced at $8 for adults and $4 for kids 10 and under and includes a bonus jazz-themed menu twist.
With everything from live entertainment and art experiences to community gatherings and brunch, it’s shaping up to be a full weekend across Rapid City.
