The South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office plans to begin reporting results from today’s primary election just after 8 p.m. Central/7 p.m. Mountain, following the closure of polling places in the western part of the state, the office said in a news release.
As counting proceeds across the state’s 66 counties, the public can track results live on the state election results portal at electionresults.sd.gov. Once reporting starts, the website will refresh and update with new data every 5 minutes as county auditors upload results. It may be late tonight or or early Wednesday morning before full results are reported.
In the days following the election, county canvassing boards will meet to review the results and send them to the Secretary of State’s Office. The State Canvassing Board is scheduled to certify the election next Tuesday in Pierre.
“Our office works hand-in-hand with dedicated county auditors across the state to ensure a transparent, accurate and secure tabulation process,” said Secretary of State Monae Johnson in the news release.
