The offenses were firing on all cylinders on Saturday afternoon as Black Hills State and Dakota State combined for more than, 1,000 yards of total offense; however, it would be the Yellow Jackets coming away with the 44-31 victory over their long time SDIC and DAC rivals in Dakota State. For the Green & Gold it was the first time since a September 16, 2023, victory over Chadron State, that the offense accumulated both 300 yards or more passing and 200 yards or more of rushing in the same game, as the balanced attack passed the ball for 322 yards and ran the ball for 211 yards for 533 total yards and an average of 8.3 yards per play. The game marked the seventh straight for BHSU over DSU and their fourth consecutive win overall dating back to last season as they begin the year 2-0 for the first time since 2022, while it ended the longest winning streak since 1991 for the Trojans at six games.
