DEADWOOD, S.D. — Fans of Yellowstone and live music alike will have a chance to experience one of the show’s standout bands in person as Shane Smith and the Saints head to Deadwood Mountain Grand.

The band, whose music was featured during one of Yellowstone’s most popular runs, is known for delivering a powerful live show that goes far beyond what fans hear on screen or through their headphones.

“It’s a very different show,” Shane said. “Listening to our music is not at all the same as coming to the live show.”

Shane Smith and the Saints blend folk, roots rock, and Celtic influenced sounds, creating a style that has helped them stand out in a crowded music scene. But their rise to national attention took a major leap when Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan discovered their music.

“I think he became a fan and wanted to implement our music into the show wherever he could,” Shane said.

Their song All I See Is You was featured in multiple episodes, and in a rare move, the show even named an episode after the song and mentioned the band by name.

“That pretty rarely happens for a band,” Shane said. “We were just beyond thankful.”

At the time, the band had already spent years on the road, building their audience one show at a time without major label support.

“We’d never been featured on anything ever before,” he said. “Not even a local car commercial.”

The Yellowstone moment helped introduce the band to a wider audience, but Shane says their foundation was already built through years of touring.

“We’ve kind of found our success just from touring our butts off,” he said. “We put a pretty big emphasis on the live performance.”

Even with the added exposure, the band’s journey has never been about one overnight breakthrough.

“It was so many breadcrumbs over the years,” Shane said. “There was never really one big moment. It’s just been one step at a time.”

That steady climb has taken them across the country, and while they have passed through the Black Hills before, this upcoming show marks a moment they have been looking forward to.

“I’ve just been like, man, we’ve got to come back here. I want to play this place so bad,” he said.

Now, they finally get their chance.

Fans can expect a night full of energy, storytelling, and emotion, the same elements that caught the attention of Yellowstone viewers, but amplified in a live setting.

“I don’t think they will regret it,” Shane said. “I think they’ll have a good time.”

Shane Smith and the Saints will take the stage Friday night at Deadwood Mountain Grand.
